Fantastic Line Up for Makers of Market Square at Darwen Live this Saturday


Makers of Market Square at Darwen Live at is all set to bring in the crowds this Saturday to the newly refurbished Market Square in the centre of Darwen.

Organised by local events company Crafty Vintage and in collaboration with Blackburn with Darwen Council, the event will show off this spectacular new event space.

Billy Bibby ex Catfish and The Bottlemen will be headlining.

Billy who now fronts his new band HAiG which is made up of ex members of Blackburn band The New York Tourists, will be performing his acoustic set before he goes on tour.

Compere and vocalist for the event is Charlotte Jones who has sung on BBC1 Celebrity Masterchef, Saturday Kitchen and with West End Star Damian Poole, will be sharing with you her extensive range of songs from the 1920’s to the present day.

Opening up the event at 10:00am is Guitarist Steven Buckley who has enjoyed a richly diverse and exciting career playing for and recording for artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Richard Hawley, Cornershop, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and regularly with members of bands such as The Brand New Heavies, Zero 7, Morcheeba and The Cinematic Orchestra. With such an eclectic body of work to boast, Steven is well equipped to accommodate any musical requests

From Classical to Adele, from the Beatles to Coldplay he will be sure to keep you entertained.

At 3:15 Darwen School of Music will take to the stage with a fantastic line up of singers and tutor Paul Stuart Davies on keyboard who has also sung alongside Motown greats Kim Weston, Brenda Holloway, The Velvelettes and The Contours and had The Original Vandellas as backing singers when he was over in Detroit. Paul’s spin on northern soul hit “Wonderin” has firmly established himself as a leading singer on todays soul scene.

Last but by no ways least will be Lois Elizabeth and Denise Morgan who are fantastic vocalists from the local area, both of whom have amazing voices and talent.

Add to this an eclectic mix of stalls full of vintage, collectibles and handmade crafts plus street food chefs, a gin bar and a free kids zone offering theatre, dance and circus workshops throughout the day, Darwen Town Centre is definitely the place to be this Bank Holiday Weekend.
