Blackburn is set to shine brighter than ever this winter with its annual Christmas Lights Switch On confirmed for Saturday 22 November 2025. The town centre will be filled with music, street entertainment, delicious food and plenty of festive magic, organised by Blackburn BID in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council and supported by BBC Radio Lancashire.

The celebrations will start a day early this year with a Friday Christmas market under a marquee on King William Street. Visitors can expect handmade crafts, festive food and drink, and a warm community atmosphere that leads perfectly into Saturday’s main event.
A Full Day of Festive Fun
The main stage outside the Old Town Hall will feature performances from local favourites including Katrina’s Dance Academy, Lancashire Dance Academy, Blackburn Musical Theatre Company and Ella Shaw Academy of Arts.
Throughout the town, visitors can enjoy live music, stilt walkers, fire dancers and free face painting. The grand finale will be led by David Dunn, the Blackburn Rovers legend, who will officially switch on the town’s lights in celebration of the club’s 150th anniversary.
As the lights sparkle to life, a brand new projection show will illuminate the Town Hall, creating a stunning backdrop that promises to be a highlight of this year’s event.
Markets, Makers and Merriment
The Christmas market will showcase a wide range of independent traders, local producers and creative makers. From artisan gifts to vintage finds, it is the perfect place to pick up something unique while soaking up the festive atmosphere.
For us at Crafty Vintage, events like this capture what Lancashire does best. Creativity, community and a shared sense of celebration come together to bring new energy into our town centres and support the many talented local makers who make each event so special.
Visiting Tips
